VOLGA - ANYTHING BUT VULGAR

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's probably that I have an endless, undying love for dark lipstick. I can't help it, I just feel like it's an extension of my soul seeping through my lips, coating all my words. There was a time when I'd just transitioned from platinum blonde to natural blonde to ginger, and I thought I'd never be able to wear dark lipsticks again cause they wouldn't suit my new hair colour. Then I realised that was absurd, and I make my own rules. So dark lips and I rekindled our love affair and the rest is history.

I've got a favourite, my main girl (MAC Matte in Diva), I don't know how many sticks of that I've been through but it's

a lot

, and I've found it quite hard to match up to, in all honesty. While in Selfridges looking for Christmas presents for other people, I strolled across to the Nars counter, as you do, and had to have this as soon as I saw it.

Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Volga. (£19.50)

It goes on quite sheer which I usually hate in lipsticks but this one is smooth and gorgeous, and with the right (though potentially hard to find) lipliner will be an absolute dream! I don't really struggle anymore with applying dark or bright lip colours, I think maybe it's because my lips aren't symmetrical anyway so I don't really care about them matching up so much. Or it could be all the practice, who knows. Anyway, if you are struggling to find a matching lip liner for any lipstick you have, a good thing to get in the habit of doing is taking a lip liner brush, brushing it against the lipstick and carefully lining the lips with that.

What are your favourite dark lipsticks?

Do you have any recommendations for me?

XO Sarah.

P.S. Teddy says hi!
